Hope everyone has had a fabulous day. Our meal was fantastic! We had planned to eat at 3, but the turkey was done much faster, so we were eating just after 1:00. Now we are sleepy! I think Jason might even have snuck upstairs to nap! Dana and Michael (her nephew) are supposed to come over later for pie. I made pecan and Jason made pumpkin. He made all the crusts. Just planning on playing a game w/the boys later on, making catching up on more TIVO. We finally got through all the Reaper episodes, and I am really loving that show! I think I have to brave Walmart at 5am to try to get this thing my mom is wanting for my dad. I don't EVER go out to the stores on Black Friday, but she really wants it, so I guess I will go. I hope it isn't too stressful. Tomorrow is bowling, and I get to bowl for Nelson, since he's out of town. I think I'll put up some Xmas deco, but the tree will wait until next weekend. Saturday is our town's Xmas parade, and I believe we are going, for the first time in 8 years! I don't remember it being too wonderful the time we went, as it was pretty much the Frontier Days parade rehashed, just with Xmas lights.
Okay, so I had such a weird, but nice dream this morning, all because of the above picture (which sends me into a frenzy every time I look at it--YUM!). Usually, if I fall back asleep after waking up in the early morning, I tend to have the strangest, most vivid dreams. Not sure why that is. I should write this one in my dream journal, but I just had to post it here.
I am off running around my hometown one morning w/Davey Havok. He's wanting me to take pics of him w/my digital camera. He's just posing and singing, all over the place. At one point I am laying in the grass watching him. We are walking through a neighborhood, and I'm thinking Jason is probably wondering where I am, because I am not going to make it home for lunch, and I don't my cell phone. However, I just can't believe I am getting to take pics of Davey. Eventually, we wind up at Anderson school (which is a school here in Cheyenne, NOT my hometown--interesting how dreams cram things together). There is a Thanksgiving play going on, but we go in these back doors that lead to the stage. I am just looking around and Davey kind of sneaks off and chat w/some moms. He comes back w/two blank checks and hands them to me. We leave the school, and there are now airplanes parked out back, so we have to manuver around those. Davey is in an orange hoodie, with his hair long again, and I snap this picture, which I think is one of the best ones ever. All the sudden he looks like he does now, w/his short hair, and his outfit has changed. I am still carrying the checks, and keep looking at them, wondering why he would have to ask people for $, because he has to have plenty! Without reason, Davey just disappears, and I am walking by myself. I think I'm still in town, and heading for my mom's, but then I come out above the interstate, a few miles outside of my hometown, thinking I have such a long way to walk. I blink and all the sudden I am in my car, w/the boys in back, driving down the interstate in a horrible storm. People are barely moving, and I have to drive off the side of the road to avoid a semi that is crossing over from the northbound lane. I get back, and the road is this floating ice, making the car not want to go. The car in front of me is an old beat up "grandma" car, and as it tries to get through a big puddle of ice, this water shoots it about 100 ft. into the air, where it comes down upside down. The girl in the car behind me gets out and checks on the person, who is now just laying in the road, car not in sight, saying they are all right. I keep asking should I call 911, and she says yes and she is going to. I didn't want to call if she was, and I watched it and decided she couldn't have called in such a short amount of time, so I try to call, but it keeps calling my mom. I told her I will call her back and when I look at the # it is dialing 981 instead of 911, and I can't see a number pad on my phone to call the right #. That's when I startled awake. So am I crazy? LOL :)
We got all our turkey day grocery shopping done today at lunch. We'll be smoking a 12 lb. turkey, injected w/herb and garlic marinade. I am making cranberry marshmallow salad and rolls, and Jason will be doing the mashed potatoes and pumpkin pie!! Peyton requested the "pretend wine", so we got them sparkling cider and grape juice. I can't wait to eat! Dana and Michael (her nephew) are coming over for dessert. I imagine we'll eat around 3. Jason is only off Thursday. He could be off Friday if he wanted to, but he's decided to work and he'll get a personal day to use later. Friday night I get to bowl, since Nelson is gone. It's also sis'd bday! I have her presents boxed up, and will take them to my aunt, who is going to Buffalo for turkey day.
Today was absolutely gorgeous--70 degrees! It's hard to believe it is supposed to snow Wed., and be in the 20s. I took the motorcycle to the library this morning, then left it at Jason's work over lunch. We met Dana, Pita and Rodney for Chinese buffet. I finally got to spend a little time at Michael's this afternoon. I have only been there once since they opened, for about 5 min. They have some super cute, $1 Xmas deco. I plan on getting some next week when sis is here. Today I just got Xmas cards, 10 for $1, and some earring making things. Gotta get busy on those, since the craft show is in 12 days. It's time to bring my craft tub out and see what's left over from last year.
This morning I helped Brecken's class prepare their holiday feast. There were 3 tables, and each group of kids got to make each thing--stew, Indian pudding and pumpkin pudding. I'm not sure I would eat the puddings--they were kind of funky. The teacher is trying to show them that this is the kind of stuff the pilgrims and Indians had to eat, and that they didn't have goodies like candy bars! My table made the pumpking pudding. The teacher told the kids she'd take the stuff home and bake it, but in reality, she's making fresh stuff to bring in, which is probably wise w/all the little hands touching everything after picking noses, etc.! Tomorrow they will eat their feast, and I am going to help w/that. Last night for dinner we made the "buffalo stew" that Peyton's class made for their feast last week, although I used beef, because there was only ground buffalo at the store.
I picked up yet another book at the library--Long Hard Road Out of Hell (Marilyn Manson's autobiography). I'm pretty sucked into The Dirt at the moment, and started The Mismantle Chronicles for the boys last night. I just feel like I can't read enough at the moment! I guess I am done rambling. It's time to get my jammies on and veg. I am beat and have another early morning. I am really looking forward to the break this week!
ME!!!! Got Red Carpet Massacre this morning and I am BEYOND thrilled w/it! I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this CD. Been listening to it all morning and watching the DVD now!
Jason and I are going to lunch w/Peyton. He's requested McD's, which we'll get him, but we are being healthier and having Silvermine. I might try to make some jello crusted popcorn this afternoon. That stuff is so good and addicting, but always tears my mouth up. Since Jason has bowling, it will be movie night, and I am thinking we'll watch Eragon, which I TIVOd. Jason watched some of it the other day and didn't like it, so I hope it's not too bad. The boys are having a playdate w/Peyton's buddy and his little brother tomorrow morning. Their dad is taking them to the park, so hopefully the wind lets up. It's crazy today!
We'll do some turkey day shopping, either Sat. night or Sun. afternoon. Our menu is very simple, since we don't like some of the traditional stuff. Jason's smoking a turkey, and I'll do mashed potatoes, cranberry marshmallow salad and rolls. I believe dessert is pumpkin pie. It's always a hard choice between that and pumpkin cake roll, but Jason hasn't had a pumpkin pie for a while!
I spent an hour running around this morning trying to get the deluxe edition of Red Carpet Massacre! Target had it in their flyer for 17.98, yet didn't get any. My last stop was Fye at the mall, and they had it, but for $28. I don't know how that place ever sells a CD. They are so overly priced. I don't know what to do! I need to have this CD TODAY! I am debating on going back to Walmart to see if maybe they put some out (they had none this morning, not even the regular edition).
I am off to school in a few minutes for Breck's sock hop. Today is the 50th day of school, so the primary grades get to have rootbeer floats, bought for 50 cents, w/the $ going to Pennies for Patients. They'll dance in the gym after : ). Jason's going to meet me there. The kids dressed in 50s clothing, which for Breck was rolled up jeans, a white t-shirt w/the sleeves rolled up, his leather Harley jacket, and his hair slicked back. I'll try to get some pics.
I don't know what it is about this time change, but I'm having a hard time adjusting. To top it off, I had the worst headache ALL day yesterday. Took ibuprofen and got no relief. I had a bad time going to sleep, having shakes, and just feeling weird. I felt fine this morning, but I can feel something creeping into my head again. I don't know what it is about this time of year, but I seem to always get headaches. Five years ago they were bothering me so much, that I actually had neck x-rays and a head CT done, but nothing came out of it. I think a lot of it may have been stress over my Papa. Tuesday was 5 years since he has been gone. He's missed more than ever, and I just wish he could be here to see how the boys have grown. He always got a kick out of things Peyton would say or do, and I have some doozies I wish I could share w/him, and hear his chuckle. Breck was just 10 mos. old when Papa died, but at least he got to meet him. Okay, I have to stop, because I am getting way too teary eyed.
I did finish Heroin Diaries yesterday, and I LOVED it! I was sad it was over, and would love to read more about Nikki's life. I am amazed he is still alive. I started Bill Engvall's book this morning, and am all ready 65 pages into it. I really love his comedy, so I am enjoying the book so far. Jason's coming home for lunch. I wanted to ride the bike out to Hobby Lobby and the library, but it's windy, which sucks, because it's a nice day otherwise. I get so nervous in the wind, being pushed all over the road. I should just take this day to relax and catch up on sleep. Jason will be playing basketball tonight (a usual Thurs. night thing), so for dinner we're cleaning up leftovers.
I started making beaded earrings yesterday. Since I've done ZERO to get ready for the craft show, I thought I'd try these. I'm not expecting to sell a ton, but they are fun to make. Might make some more of the bead people. Those are a big thing for kids, because they are little and cheap, so they can usually talk mom, dad or grandma into buying some. One thing I learned after the first year at the craft show was not to have high expectations. I was disappointed after the first year, but after the 2nd it was better, because I sold more than I thought I would. You just can't judge what kind of handmade things people want to buy, so it's a crap shoot! I am really more anxious to help my sis sell her things and get her name out there. Everyone loved her painted terra cotta pots and cake stands she did last year. Dana will be gone to Hawaii during the show, which is less than a month away, so sis is coming down to help sell. Every year I throw the things that didn't sell back into a tub, so this year I think I'm putting them in a separate basket marked "specials", or something like that. I don't want to say "clearance", because it sounds cheap! I can't believe this is our 4th year doing the show. The table is always ours, until we say that we don't want it anymore.
I went to the library this afternoon and picked out these 4 books to see if the boys would be interested. I have been reading the Spiderwick series to them, and they love it! We have one book left in the first series, and I just picked up the first book in the 2nd series, plus the Field Guide. This is on top of the 4 books I'm reading for myself, although I plan to be done w/"Heroin Diaries" tonight or tomorrow. I also picked up Bill Engvall's "Just a Guy", which I had on hold. I'm on a roll this year with my reading. I keep a very simple page on my site with all the books I've read over the past few years, really just for my knowledge. It's nothing fancy, but it's here.
So Mel got me interested in Vox, and I am really enjoying the media stuff. I think with the impending Yahoo changes, I will use Vox as my main blog, and might just do cross-posting to 360 for those that will stay there. I don't have a lot of people that read my blog, which is all right--it's really just an outlet for me!
This is a pretty cool site. I signed up a while back, but never reallly took the time to do much with it. You take quizzes for shows you watched the previous day/night, and get points for each correct answer. I made a ton of points in just one night, even though it's a 5 quiz limit a day. You can do other types of surveys for points as well. They have auctions, drawings, and shopping sprees that you can use the points for. I remember long ago when I was into all these points/rewards sites, but eventually gave up on most of them, other than My Points. I still get about 2 gift cards a year, just for clicking on emails, so that's not too bad.
Have you ever ridden in a hot air balloon or a helicopter? Where did you go?
No and no. I don't know if I could go up in a hot air balloon, unless it was just a few feet off the ground and it was tethered to something! I would probably ride in a helicopter if I had to.
